Bag Features and FAQs

How is the body of a Bulk Bag constructed?

Bulk Bag carrying capacities range from 1000 to 4,400 lbs. Fabrics are designed to meet a minimum of 5:1 safety factor, however, denser, stronger fabrics of 6:1 safety factor or higher can also be manufactured. Fabrics woven with a breathing stripe allow the passage of more air (necessary for products like potatoes) while maintaining the integrity of the bag. Coated fabrics are suggested for use with either fine powder, seed or products that are sensitive to moisture.

As the standard bag will round out on filling, a baffle bag will keep its shape with the use of the internal baffles, cutting down the space requirements. The conical bag is designed specifically to assist in complete discharge of contents, specially for slightly sticky materials (like brown sugar). Single/double loop bags are also used for sugar as well as cement.

While the UN certified bags are available for hazardous materials, conductive bags are available for products that form static energy. Food grade bags, produced in a clean room are also available for the packaging of food.

What are some Bulk Bag lifting methods?

Maneuverability of these heavy bags is extremely important. Many different options are available to suite the diverse requirements for different sizes. Self-standing loops are handy for unassisted forklift pick-up and for moving very tall bags. Hood, four-loop and sleeve lifts are specifically designed for use with forklifts. With the attachment of additional loops to the existing four, a hook can pick up the bags. One-loop and two loop bags are suitable for pick-up by either crane or forklift.

What are some Bulk Bag filling options?

Depending on the type of machinery operated and the product to be stored inside the bag, a variety of filling options are available. Tops may not be necessary for products of low value and not subject to moisture damage. On the other hand, the duffel top still provides easy access but ensures integrity of the contents. The top, with a draw cord permits air flow but still confines the product, and a cone top allows for extra filling for those materials which settle in time. Filling systems, (including spouts) can be attached to different accessories for full customization.

What are some Bulk Bag discharge options?

Choosing the proper discharge option saves the end user both time and money and improves product handling efficiency. Many customers choose not to reuse their bags, for these customers a flat bottom which is slit to release the material is probably the most economical option. For those who prefer some reusability, a variety of discharge options are available. Many spout options can be produced to match equipment and hygiene requirements. The covers over the tied-off spout protect products from contamination. A full-bottom discharge is also available.

I would like to learn more about the Remote Open Discharge (R.O.D.) button. Can you provide me with information?

Remote Open Discharge bottom

Our remote open discharge bottom is a safe way for discharging product from
the bulk without going underneath the bag. It has an attached tie string on the side of the bag. The tie string is attached for quick release and can be pulled to the side of the bulk bag.
